About this video
The panel answer questions on the ethics of heart transplantation.
Following a discussion on the history of heart transplants, Wellcome Trust Engagement Fellows and hosts Dr Kevin Fong and Dr Richard Barnett, alongside cardiac surgeons Sir Terence English and Francis Wells, and medical ethicist Dr Antonia Cronin, answer questions from the audience on the ethical complexities of human heart transplantation.
Should organ donors be kept on a ventilator after they're effectively brain dead? Is an opt-out system appropriate? And what implications do stem cells have for human heart transplantation?
This is part two of the 'Heart to Heart' event which took place at the Royal Institution on Wednesday 15 February 2012. Watch part one here.
