Turning plastic pollution into art.

With increasing quantities of plastic discarded every day, plastic pollution is a growing environmental concern. Vast amounts of disposable plastics end up in marine environments, with much of this waste washing up on beaches around the world.

Over the last ten years Richard Lang and Judith Selby Lang have been collecting plastic debris from a single beach in Northern California. This short film explores this ongoing project in which they use plastic waste in creative ways to draw attention to this issue of pollution.

The pieces of plastic Richard and Judith collect end up being cleaned and categorized, before making their way into various art projects including sculptures, jewellery and installations. In this way, the single location is a microcosm of the larger global problem.
