Scale
About this video
What would the planets look like if they appeared in the sky at the same distance as the moon?
Animator Brad Goodspeed uses a clever trick to reveal the comparative sizes of the planets in the solar system. By placing the planets in the night sky at the same distance the moon is from the Earth, he reveals their huge size difference and the universe's immense sense of scale.
Jupiter, for example, effectively consumes the night sky at over ten times the size of Earth.
