The Dream Vendor
About this video
Printing dreams...
Dream Vendor is a project set up at Virginia Tech University providing students with open access to a sophisticated 3D printing machine. The printer is available for anyone to use, either for personal or academic projects and allows users to fabricate three-dimensional models or prototypes for design projects.
Virtual models can be uploaded to the printer which then extrudes layers of plastics according to these 3D templates. The Dream Vendor is capable of fabricating any number of complex objects, from chess pieces to action figures and is helping researchers survey the types of objects people want to print.
The project is run out of the Virginia Tech Design, Research, and Education for Additive Manufacturing Systems Laboratory, otherwise known as the DREAMS lab if you're in a hurry.
