About this video
Highlights from the Ri’s first ever Unconference.
Held in September 2011, the Unconference aimed to get young people to think seriously and creatively about complex issues facing their generation - from science in the media and careers to the future of science education and the impending global environmental crisis.
Highlights included challenging addresses by environmentalist Hugh Montgomery, science publicist Sallie Robins, science teacher Alom Shaha, and space scientist Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
After workshops and break-out sessions throughout the Ri Building, the delegates revealed their recommendations to policy makers including a beef tax and harder science GCSEs.
